One of the very first Vostok Lake gigs. The promoter had the good idea to spice the gigs by giving me sexxxy backing dancers on a couple of songs, and they did a great job. Too great. The audience loved them and barely tolerated the songs which didn't feature them. It was a goth gig and many of the audience did not appreciate the humour of songs like "Crowley". The promoter actually had to apologise for me after the gig. Virtually every gig since then has gone better, though, and I have been privileged to work again with one of the go-go girls as part of the Electric Salon.
I really miss the PVC dress. They used to sell it at Gallery Serpentine in Sydney. It was hot as blazes but made the right impression. Problem was, when it got ripped it was unfixable, and when I went back to the store they'd shifted to a steampunk look, which isn't quite what I was hoping for.
